I used to love Google Reader. But ever since Google decided the function for sharing RSS feed items was somehow a threat to their Google+ world domination plan, I have been looking for an alternative.
And not only did I find a worthy alternative, but a service that might actually be better than Google Reader ever was (and will be). Ladies and gentlemen, meet RSS Hero or, as they now call it, Goodbits!
Goodbits is a fast, sleek RSS reader, it allows you to easily make the switch from Google Reader (import, boom! it just works!), and yes, it does allow you to share you favorite news articles from the web and easily follow other Goodbits users. Here’s my own shared item page.

Word of advice: the service is currently in alpha, so some bugs are expected. But I’ve been using it for about a month now, and I see it getting better and more reliable each day. The only thing I’m still missing is the ability to mark items as unread. Other than that, Goodbits has everything that Google Reader used to have in a much better package. And oh, did I mention you can also use it to read Twitter articles?
So, what are you waiting for? Go on, visit their page and sign up for an invite! (You can also message me with your e-mail address and I’ll try to send you an invite.)
